HIV Prevention Counseling: A Client-Centered Approach
(No CME credit available.)
This program, based on the "Virtual Practicum" model, is for individuals who are, or will be, engaged in counseling
to reduce the risk of contracting or transmitting HIV.
HIV Prevention Counseling takes place in a "Virtual Neighborhood," where the learner can participate in an "apprenticeship"
with a master counselor/trainer. The Neighborhood provides for opportunities to "practice" as a counselor in different settings,
including clinic-based, community-based, and outreach. The Neighborhood also has a Learning Center, where users can go to learn
generally about HIV, HIV prevention, and client-centered counseling; here they can attend lectures, meet other counselors via
interviews, interview real patients, and do computer-based learning games.
